The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program is your tool for starting that process with your students. And it comes with all kinds of advantages. First, it’s just a really excellent program. Second, it’s COMPLETELY FREE.

Nobody needs to tell you that our country has entered a dark period of deep recession. This is indeed a difficult period, and made more so because most of us have never experienced conditions like this in our lifetimes. And remember, this is all new and perhaps very terrifying in the lives of many of your students.

That’s right, there are millions of young people who are directly affected by what’s happening. They may have parents being laid off (or know someone who does), a home that is in foreclosure, and they may even know how family investments have dissolved in value. A scary and ‘insecure’ reality for too many young people today. Young people need more than ever to learn what financial education can offer them!

Through financial education — especially in these dire times — students can discover the tools they have to better understand and deal with their realities today and in the future.

The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program is your tool for starting that process with your students. And it comes with all kinds of advantages. First, it’s just a really excellent program. Second, it’s COMPLETELY FREE. And then consider that it’s cross-walked to all state and national standards, it’s easy to pick up and use, it’s flexible, it’s completely non-commercial, and it’s built around a methodology that works with students. And did I say it’s FREE????

And, in case you were wondering, we’re here for the long run! That’s right, our program is still available. And not only is it free, remember that our foundation will even pay all the costs of shipping materials to you. Now let me tell you how to get the jump on everyone else: ORDER YOUR FALL MATERIALS NOW!

IT’S NOT TOO SOON TO ORDER YOUR CLASSROOM MATERIALS FOR THE FALL.
The national rush for our materials is truly insane during the months of August and September. Beat that craziness by ordering now!

HAVE THOSE MATERIALS IN HAND BEFORE SCHOOL CLOSES AND YOU’LL KNOW THEY’LL BE THERE WHEN YOU COME BACK IN THE FALL.
That’s right. Have them delivered before school closes in the spring and you’ll have them on day one in the fall. That avoids delays and much more!

SO HERE’S WHAT TO DO:
1. First, go to our Web site at http://hsfpp.nefe.org/
2. Next, click on the upper RH corner button called “Instructor’s Log-in”
3. At the login screen, log into the site with your login information.
4. (If you forgot your login information, just use the password request tool below the login spaces)
5. Once in the Instructors’ Web site, click on the “Order Materials” link at the LH menu.
6. IMPORTANT KEY STEP: When you get to the “Class Start Date” screen in your order, if you want to receive your materials before school closes for this year, select as your date, THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.
7. Finally, finish and submit your order. You should get it before your “Class Start” date.

I hope you will agree with me that there has never been a more important time to be teaching our young people about money. Here is a chance to help your students begin to understand how they can begin to cope with what they’re faced with in their lives today.

Show us your stuff

A Web site that NEFE recently launched because we’re trying a different route to reach Americans.

Spendster.org is a site where people can go to confess the stuff that they shouldn’t have bought. The purpose of the site is to give people a chance to talk about what they could have done with the money if they hadn’t bought the junk, and to look at their needs and wants. The site has videos, photos, message boards, an interactive calculator, and articles to help people on their way to better spending. NEFE’s CEO and president, Ted Beck, came up with the concept of Spendster. On a trip to Los Angeles, Ted said, “Listen, everyone has a drawer at home full with junk. I doubt anyone has really sat down to think about how much money they’ve spent on it all.” So, the idea was born.
